Bluray on Non-HD equipment

I was at Blockbuster yesterday and had my eye on an LG BluRay player they had there. I was going to buy it just to future-proof myself, but thought better of it since I don't have an HD AVR or television.

Would I notice a difference in audio or video quality with BR player over a normal DVD player, going through component from my Denon-1705 to my Sony CRT television, and coaxial audio connection?

If your CRT television has a rez that is any better than 480, AND you have a viewing angle that is great enough to discern finer rez, then yes.

If the CRT is 480, then no.

I see a dream vision PJ in your sig. The above two statements apply to this display as well.

Without knowing more, I say save your money.
