That IS cheap, but when a Panasonic BD60 is only $33 more from the same store, I just would have a very hard if not impossible time in recommending this purchase to anyone. JMO, thanks though.

Ya never know. I would have thought that Pioneer made a better BD player than Samsung, but my $120 BD-P1600 kicked the crap out of the 2 Pioneer's I compared it to, and one of them was a $600 Pioneer Elite.

Yeah, but this Sylvania ain't even BD-Live capable. So, this means no Netflix, YouTube, etc. out of the box.

Funai's been crappy about firmware updates. I'd spend the extra $$ and get a Panny, LG or Samsung (well, maybe not a Samsung).

I would also go with the panasonic for a little more

As of 2/3/2010 Walmart on-line has a Magnavox blu-ray player for $68 (plus tax (and maybe shipping). I think you can order it on-line and pick it up in a local Walmart and maybe avoid shipping costs - not sure about that.

This is about the lowest cost I have seen for a new blu-ray player if price is a deciding factor.

WOW. That's crazy cheap. Pretty cool.

I've actually seen DVD players on sale for $15.

Both Samsung and Pioneer have had poor FW support, historically, but really it's Samsung that was the bottom dweller for a long time from the beginning. Today, they might have improved quite a bit since then. Also, as allargon has perhaps implied, they are feature loaded.

For someone who uses the player ONLY for bluray playback like myself (no sacd, no streaming, no DVD in fact), the Pana is a really great buy.

Just me aware, Panasonic has really poor Customer Support later on down the road. I ended up trashing my Panasonc BD30 because after 18 months when it failed to read BD ( normal DVD and CDs were okay) Panasonic wanted me to send in at my expense and charge me another $80-$100 to fix.

Don't know about Sylvania Customer Support, but $90 sounds great. I bought Sony BD at Sam's for $128, but wow $38 cheaper you can't beat that!

Peace and Good Sound,

Forest Man

Am I seeing that correctly, the Samsung BD-C5500 has 7.1 analog preouts?
