It is wrong to place a subwoofer in front of the left front speaker?

The family room is 12x18 but since i have to let 3' for the corridor that conects to the kitchen an the stairs. That leaves me a real space of 8x18, i have a 65" plasma and that leaves room only for the front speakers to be place on the side of the tv. Where can i place
the subwoofer? Can i put it like 2' in front of the speaker? Will this affect sound?

Thanks again guys for always bring good answers.

How tall is the sub and is there a driver in that left speaker that is at the top of the sub height or lower? If not, you should be ok.

I can't quite picture your proposed placement. Are you putting it in front of towers? Anyway there are lots of options. I have my crossover set pretty low and use my sub as an end table.

sub placement

Try putting your sub where you normally sit, walk around the room and see where you feel it sounds the best.that where your sub belongs,if it makes practical sense in your room.
