Taryn shooting the Desert Eagle .50

I have a Desert Eagle .50 and .44 Magnum that I like to take out every so often, sometimes just so I can watch other people try to shoot it! One of my Navy friends has been bugging me to shoot it, and she's tiny, so I was looking forward to some good entertainment!

Anyway, I finally gave in and let her take a crack at the hand cannon today, and this was the result! (For any of you camera nuts, this is the video that the Rebel T1i records)

I only put 1 round in there in case she dropped it, but I could have loaded it up, she took it like a champ!

Funny story... way back when, when I first started shooting, a guy at the local range had a 454 Casul. He let me give it a shot. I really really braced myself knowing the power of this gun. I shot 45 autos, but this was nothing like that... especially in a revolver vs semi auto.

Despite my preparation, I had completely underestimated the kick. The gun pitched up and back and the hammer nailed me right on the forehead. Two butterfly bandages later, I left the range with my head hung in shame.

Those are massive guns you got.

I went to a combat school and my instructor said that women are often better shots than men based on their experience. He attributed it to be because they don't have the ego/macho attitude, they end up learning more faster.

My mom is a killer shot.

I think that is an often repeated myth because It really depends on the person. However, the top pistol champs are men. There are some amazing women shooters though; especially in skeet. As far as I am aware, there are no female marine snipers. Maybe Matt could say if that is correct or not.
