Nice gear and a much cleaner room than mine.

Jim
For awhile I was looking for a replacement receiver until the Oppo BDP-83SE became known, it solved my Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio craving! This Denon receiver has driven 4 ohm speakers for 10 years with very little heat output, I rarely ever hear the two temperature sensitive 92mm fans in a toob configuration with the amp section built around it, one fan in front and one fan in rear! It's like a wind tunnel, now days it's just 100% top ventilation. That SR8002 receiver is awesome sounding, I was looking to replace my Denon with the Marantz SR8002, but then came the Oppo BDP-83SE saving me a little more than a grand! I love the amplifier power of my Denon!

Best regards,
Techlord, :)

Nice, clean set-up. Good wire management too.
I had to return my last Samsung LCD because I wanted a bigger model, I have to take another trip to Home Depot and buy more of that special PVC tubes, you did notice the one back power cable in the first picture? I also need to do some cable management to the Left/Right speaker wires, thinking about painting them black and sticking them to the back of the speaker so you don't see white speaker wires coming out of nowhere around the top of the speakers. I'm also going to put acoustic treatments on the walls.

Hey there Techlord are you the same name over at HDF and if so could you fill me in on your remote as I believe it was you that mentioned something other than the usual Harmony one but it slips my mind right now, nice set-up I like the neatness I wish I had the patience to achieve such a look..

Yes I am Techlord everywhere, I can't get enough of the AV forums! I think of both forums are great, more to feed the addiction as I am an AV Forum Holic! ;) I'm thinking that while the weather here is bad with all the lighening, I prefer to unplug everything from the walls when I'm not home. Do you know how it feels to hear lighting for the first time in 10 years, it scares the cough out of me!

I never had a universal remote before, but would like to buy one. I have heard the logitech's are nothing but trouble, buttons falling of and high falutre rates which is probably why they have so many refurbs.

Yes but it's $589.99 (Oppo BDP-83 anybody?) and I would have to be under the influence heavily, I have heard it very hard to program! This remote is for the custom installers to sell to rich folks who can pay someone to program it for them. Universal Remote

Ideal for homes with one or more A/V systems, the MX-980 is as intuitive for installers to program as it is for users to operate!

While I have Harmony 880 - I can't deny it's issues with design (after year keys begun to wear and hard to press) and over-simplified programming software.
Some folks on this forum claim that some UR models are in-expensive and there are easy to program....
I don't know, what I do know - is my better half is (mostly) successful using the remote by herself - I ran all my TV sounds through the sound system - so macros are requirement

I've had 2 Logitech/Harmony remotes over the past 7 years and have never experienced what you describe. My original remote...Harmony 659...is nearly 7 years old and still works fine. I replaced it with a Harmony One a bit over 2 years ago and the new remote has never had a glitch or failed to work as it should.

Design flaws occur...seems the 880 falls into this category for some...in some models. That is bad for the owners but they sure corrected it when they released the One.

While any manufactured device can fail at some point and there are instances of remotes failing it is a small percentage of the quantity built and sold.

Good job setting up. Like the way you handled the Center Channel.

That shelf was a pain in the but meaning the time it took to finish it. It started out as an 11" 1/4 inch x 16" inch piece of red oak, very true and flat, heavy being hardwood. I sanded until I got to 220 grit and stained it using MinWax Ebony, two coats of stain pretty much gave it a black oak look. I then used some MinWax clear gloss finish, four heavy coats. As for the thick steel L brackets they started out powder coated white, I had to use some paint striper to remove the white paint, not before having my thick yellow groves melt into a blob! Boy did my hands burn, cold water for the next hour! Here's a better picture taken at the time light was less than optimal.

16" x 11" 1/4 Red Oak Shelf Stained in Black, Then Clear Coated.

Since you drilled holes in the wall anyway, I would probably have just mounted the TV instead of the speaker. You get points for the DIY though :)

I thought about mounting the display, but I wanted to sit a little closer the it. The speaker would have to been mounted anyway, but the L-brackets would have been in the way forcing me to mount the center channel speaker even higher. I'm also building my own M&K SB-1250 subwoofer, I received my Cherry sub enclosure today, I went down to DeepSurplus and they let me walk around the warehouse with one of the guys because the hadn't got it ready to go home yet. :D

On Wednesday I'm ordering the M&K woofer and M&K SB-1250 250W amplifier for my Cherry sub enclosure, all the item are new and from M&K direct except for the Cherry enclosure! :D

I will post some pictures later next weekend.

Regards,
Techlord. :)

Why am I unable to edit my my system components? I'd like to update my new system configuration so that when people want to help me out they don't think I still have have older gear, this has already become a problem! They simply looked at "My Setup" and saw the WRONG system components and doing so wasted a huge amount of my time and their's along with all of those wasteful posts!

Thanks, Techlord.
