i have a pioneer surround sound system 5 speakers + 1 sub, and i recently added another set of 5 speakers + 1 sub with 24 gauge speaker wire. Is there any chance of anything frying, blowing up, catching fire etc.

the whole system is a HTP-2550DV with 700 watt xs 315 reveiver

If you play all the speakers at once you will damage your receiver. You will need to use zone two for the second set with external amplification. If you have no zone 2 you are out of luck unless you use impedance matching volume controls on each speaker, and I would not recommend that.
