My power supply on my PC is blnking...

Long story short... had a power outage yesterday, now my computer won't start. I press the button and nothing happens. There's a light on PS that's blinking kinda fast when it's plugged in... slower when I unplug the cord. I tried unplugging... and holding the power buttin in for 5 seconds as a lot of sites recommended but it didn't work. I flipped the voltage selector back and forth and that didn't work either. It was plugged into a surge protector.

It's HP/Compaq machine that's about 6 or 7 years old. Is the PS fried or is there some sort of reset I gotta do?

Plug the computer into an outlet without the surge suppressor. If it turns on, the suppressor died, possibly doing its job. If the computer doesn't work, it may have a dead power supply.

Power supplies die all the time, even the expensive ones take dives for no reason at all.

I had a PS that died from a small surge when plugging it into my power bar once.....I was pissed. When previously my cheapo PSU performed flawlessly for years.

I would think Tiger Direct or New Egg would have something at a good price.
