I just got my SMS-1 and am having difficulty getting it to self EQ.

I do the 12345 and I hear the sweeps.
After the 321 it gives me the EQ screen and it picks up room noise, but now sweeps. The EQ line moves like there should be sweeps playing... but nothing.

Other observations.

The volume on the SMS does not seem to work - numbers will move up and down, but no change in sub output.

When I hit test on the remote it says Boot: Fail, but cannot find anything in the manual about that.

Any thoughts???

Thanks for the help.

For "Self EQ", you need to press "3-2-1".

"1-2-3-4-5" is for manual settings (way better).

I tried the 321 that is not generating sound. I originally posted that I tried 123, but that was my error.

Thinking the boot failure may be the problem, but have no clue what that is.

Make sure you are using the numbers at the top of the remote and not the bottom. I have done that and it causes a "boot failure".

I am using the buttons at the top. I went to the manual set up, adjusting the EQ down where there is a good bump in the curve - w/ the slider all the way down, no change. Move it up - no change in the curve.

Still getting that boot fail. Unplugged it, still a fail. Wondering if it is a bad unit.

Could be a wrong wire plugging too. Read the manual carefully about how to plug the unit.
