i have been using it for years, no issues, until now.

i tried finding a fix, no luck.

I don't remember the last time mine crashed on me. Try uninstalling, cleaning your registry, then putting it back on. If that doesn't do it, something else is probably being retarded. Do you use any plugins with FF?

If you go to "Tools", then "Add-ons", select the "Plugins" tab. That will show them.

There is certainly an automatic update for the main program. If you go to the preferences section (I'm on my Mac, and I can't recall where it is on a PC), there is likely an "Update" tab that will let you select that.

What OS are you running? I had issues a while back under Ubuntu. The problem was I installed a bunch of updates without rebooting my system. I think there was a mismatch in libraries or something.

It would make me very happy if he didn't know what a Firefox plugin was but was using a Linux OS. :p

No disrespect meant to anybody, I would just find that incredibly ironic.

I was a Firefox user for quite a while, but experienced the same issues with it crashing all the time. Don't know if it was the plug-ins, add-ons and all the other trinkets that you can download for it or what, but I grew frustrated and tried Google Chrome, which isn't much better. What I do like about Chrome is it's simplicity, but I hear it's not the most secure browser out there. IE8, ironically (I use this on my work computer) has given me the least headaches out of all of them...*begrudgingly tips his hat to Microsoft...grrr*

That's probably because the sites you visit are designed for IE. I don't even design webpages for firefox.

I do use it though and much prefer it to IE. FYI IE has exploits that lead straight to your OS it's far more unsecure than Google Chrome.

I have Firefox and have no issues with it. I have 7 plugins, 2 themes, 2 extensions. I like Firefox alot better than IE, I agree with what CaliHwyPatrol suggested give it a try and see if it helps.

Also install Malwarebytes, update it's definition file and run a full scan. See if there is anything that might be causing the instability of FF.

FF is a stable product so run with that assumption for now... (esp since you did a reinstall/upgrade).

You did not happen to recently install VLC (Video Lan Client) player?

The Mozilla VLC plug in is known buggy and causes FF to crash.

I used to run Opera and would go back if it could run Adblock Plus

Just ask PDawg what Firefox did for him....

I'll put money down he'll never use IE ever again...
You couldn't pay me enough money to use IE......

just-some-guy, I have yet to have Firefox cause me troubles for the last 3 years... Generally something else on your computer gets corrupted and causes issues down the line..

When is the last time you reloaded your OS, do you have a "good" antivirus in place... if so, which one..?

If you start gathering a lot of bookmarks like I do.... sometimes it helps to export the list to .html and start clean again...

Yeah, it takes A LOT of bookmarks to get that bad.

What if the bookmarks are segregated by category and put in folders? Does that make any difference, or does the sheer number of bookmarks cause the problems? How many bookmarks does it take to have problems and why?

I may change my tagline to "IE can kiss my butt". I got so fed up with it when I only had my desktop computer that I wanted to launch it out to the street because of the problems and once I found FireFox, my acne cleared up, I lost weight, my attitude changed for the better, my hair grew back and it saved the war for the allies. Later, I installed XP Pro on it and that computer will turn ten years old next week.

I have had FF crash a lot lately. I've been using Chrome for the last little while.

IDK, it seems that any browser I try will randomly become unresponsive for a minute or more every so often. I can't explain that. It happens with IE, FF and GC. But this is different. FF just crashes and says it has to close and send an error report in addition to becoming unresponsive from time to time.

Porn sights tend to do that to a lot of browsers.:D
