I believe the answer totally depends on which component has better DACS - the CD player or whatever you are connecting it to.

That's true. Too many variables. It's hard to say depending on equipment also. That's a tough one.

Measuring you may get a "better" signal, but in all honesty as Scott said it will most likely be inaudible.

OK..great responses...that is kinda what I thought. Now for you big dogs...if you really think you are a big dog.. here are my DAC choices:: 1: Motorola 56367(24bit 96kHz Delta Sigma), 2: ESS Technologys ES 9006. I know there are other factors...but this is what I got to work with. I like good music and I'm a cheap ss. Hope I get alotamo knowledjists. I am being told by the local guru in my state of NC that digital signals are always compressed. Can a DAC uncompress a signal once it has been compressed? IS it best to do this in the machine or in the processor? Keep em coming. ?!%&#@!*/"*&^%$#@! gene?

I'm running analog cables just because I use zone 2 constantly on my rig. I cannot tell the difference in any of my gear optical to analog...............Old stone ears rides again!
