Using my Denon as a preamp with a twist?

Hello everyone and Happy New Year, :)

I own a Denon AVR-5700 THX Ultra Receiver, Oppo BDP-83SE and a 5.1 M&K theater system and want to add a dedicated 2ch stereo setup. My Denon has a true 7.1 multi-channel analog bypass, my Oppo BDP-83SE takes up six of the eight RCAs on my 7.1 multi-channel analog bypass so that leaves two available. My plan was to buy a 2-channel amplifier and take the Oppo BDP-83SE's dedicated 2ch output to the available two RCA inputs (back surround right/back surround left), then from my Denon's 7.1 channel preout to the amplifier. My only problem is how do I selectively silence my multi-channel outputs when I want to listen to 2-channel stereo and vice versa? I can't have both multi-channel and Left/Right all working at once.

Thanks,
Techlord. :)

Is there any reasons why you cannot use any of the aux, tape, vido aux, TV/DBS, DVD, CD inputs?

Happy New Year to you too!

Yes, all of my 2ch analog inputs (TV/DBS, DVD, CD) are digitized using Sharc 32bit Analog DSP devices, I've done a ton of research on this! When I take my Oppo BDP-83SEs dedicated 2ch stereo outputs to any of the 2ch analog input it destroys the signal and sounds even worse than the multi-channel outputs from the 83SE! In short that means that the ES9006 Premier DACs sound better than the ES9016 Ultra DACs, but when reversed the ES9016 Ultra DACs sound better than anything I have ever heard!! :D Everything sounds it's best when using my 7.1 multi-channel analog bypass inputs, it's quite shocking really and exciting!

Thanks for you reply PENG,
Techlord. :)

That is incredible! Good thing I asked the question first before suggesting anything. I thought all mid range to high end Denon AVRs have pure direct mode that bypasses all signal processing.

I have an analog mode used in conjunction with Direct mode, there's nothing analog about it! This isn't the first time manufacturers have claimed features that use Direct and Pure Direct, that fact the you have to push a button so an IC chip can re-route the circuit only further degrades the signal. How do you know for a "fact" the you or anyone else for that matter actually have a Pure Direct analog signal without any unnecessary processing?

Because the manufacturer says so, sorry if I can't take their word on that. This is what's keeping me from buying another AV receiver, the one I own doesn't really have a true analog mode other than the 7.1 multi-channel analog inputs. It does have an analog mode only after being digitized, the old A/D to D/A convertion. BTW my Denon AVR-5700 THX Ultra is 10 years old!
