Working on a Yamaha DSP-A3090 that was turned on and left on with no speakers hooked up, now no sound from rear speakers and distorted sound from fronts.. Is there overload circut/breaker/fuse in these units or what got cooked? Thank, Ted O..

No one has ever had this happen or know of it happening ? What happens when you turn on an amp with no speakers hooked up and turn volume up ? Surely someone has had this situation before..

Hi, Ted. I've turned on amps before with having speakers hooked up, and I don't believe that I've ever had any issues like what you are having.

Was the unit working perfectly, then someone turned it on without speakers connected, and then it doesn't work? Was there anything else that happened?

The volume was turned all the way up and left like that for some time, I'm working on this for a friend and that's the story I'm getting..

I have had a DSP-A3090 for about 15 years and never had that happen. I did have a binding post break inside the unit. Took it to a Yamaha repair dealer and got it fixed. No issues since then. Never replicated the situation you describe.

I'm not sure, but I believe it's bad to bring gain up to high levels regardless whether speakers are connected or not. What would be purpose of doing such thing anyway?

I have an A3090 also and it's been rock solid for the last 13 years I've owned it.
