Connecting Bush DVDAV11K to external devices

Hi,

I have a Bush DVDAV11K and want the surround sound feature to work for both my freeview and xbox 360. According to the advice of a friend, this system should have the functionality to change the source it receives sound from however I cannot seem to achieve this.

There are no ports for input on the back of the device so I am unable to wire anything into it directly.

Any assistance anyon could give on achieving this would be awesome.

Thanks.

Kyle

Welcome to the forum, Kyle!

The website for that company expired earlier this month, but I might have the manual for that already. I just can't find it right now.

Are you sure that there aren't any inputs at all, perhaps even on the front panel? That's an all-in-one system (DVD player will attached speakers) like in the picture below, correct? Most of those have at least one input for the TV audio.

I'll keep looking for info, but I can't guarantee that I'll find any.

The supplied speakers are useless,
but the base box and 5.1 controller is
fine.

The supplied remote control's are horrid
very lightweight and thin, with a very
limited range.

But considering the price (£50GBP) it's a
decent package. If it were a stand alone
player I'd be dissapointed, but as a complete
surround sound setup it's decent.
My 2c: $80 for Whole HTIB? I wont expect much out of it....
For extremely low end I'd rather suggest 3 pairs of Dayton B652, and Dayton 12" sub - Bookshelfs are $25 / pair on sale and sub about $120 at partsexpress.com, Used Dolby Digital Reciever (Pioneer/Yamaha) can be about $100 ebay/audiogone and dvd player about $50 new

Adam:

The only port I can find that might be input is a port simply titled "video". However there does not appear to be anywhere that i can connect it to my tv.

I have tried connecting the yellow part of my xbox scart and all it does is create a flickering mixed image of the dvd players home screen (without dvd) and the image the xbox is producing. If it turn off the dvd player you get just the xbox however its a very grainy picture with some, but dull, colour.

I've had a look for a manual online but not found one. I have extremely limited experience with home cinema systems and surround sound in general so i may be missing something blatanlty obvious.

BoredSysAdmin: I know its low end but so is my bank balance, so just trying to make the best of what i've got :)

Hey kyl3thund3r,
Everyone here, every single soul, is CRAZY about getting the most of the stuff they got, including me :)

This is why we do all kinds of crazy things like manually adjusting every single parameter of receiver, buy crazy things like speakers vibration isolation stands, honestly even considering ones which cost $500 (each), tweaking and even building our own speakers.

In short, you are not alone in the notion of getting the most of what you got, but the problem is you got seriously sub-par system, which is beyond fixing... In car term, would try to "fix" 1971 Ford Pinto....

I suggest start saving money and get components separately as you budget allows. I already gave few suggestions above, but you try even harder looking on carefully used stuff on ebay you can get even better deals...

Good luck

I don't agree on the sub-par comment. We all get what suits us, given our means and other priorities.

Kyle - it seems that your friend is familiar with that system. Is he/she able to help you out at all? I still haven't found any great info online, yet. Sorry about that.

The trouble is you bought a Bush product. Bush always was in the junk avoid category, even 50 years ago and they never improved.

Its not a problem, thanks for trying :)

My friend was speaking in generalities based ob the fact that he has a surround sound system that comes with a dvd player.

I have been given the suggestion of trying to change the audio out setting on my TV to see if that helps. My new TV should arrive tomorrow as im using a really old pacific rear projection one at the moment. It doesnt have the option to select this by my new tv should.

I'll keep you guys posted on what happens :)

thanks again

Still no luck

I have scanned a copy of all the relevant pages of the manual since none can be found online, however to add to frustration, I can't upload attachments to this forum.

If anyone is willing to help, PM me and I'll email it to you.

thanks :)

Kyle, you should be able to add attachments now that you have five posts. Perhaps you need ten posts. If it still won't let you now, just post five more times (short little gibberish posts is fine).

The attachments have a limit of 100KB each, with a total of 1MB per account (at least, it used to be that). You can also link to images, so if you place them on a website (Photobucket, Flickr, you own site), then there is no limit.
