Personally, I don't use anything by Monster, even though I can buy it from some of my distributors. I prefer Furman, Panamax, TrippLite and APC. Go to their sites and look around, then shop for price. Furman, specifically, has videos on their site that explain what their models do. Also, look here at the Audioholics store to see if anything strikes you.

If you're looking only for surge suppression, that's one thing but power management is another matter.

I haven't seen my flyers yet - what's the sale price? It would have to be at least 50% off for me to even look at it. For the regular price of $350, it doesn't do a whole lot. It may look pretty, but that doesn't justify the price. Take a look at the Panamax M8-HT-Pro, at Crutchfield.ca. It's on for $130 right now, down from $180.

redflagdeals.com got the flyers out yesterday online, its on sale for $179 witch is pretty much half price. the only reason i was looking at this, as i would put it on my futureshop card. if not, come spring/summer time i was looking at buying this.. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3956841&CatId=4713

also, what im looking for to get out of it, is power protection, and conditoner. i just dont know how many joules im supose to get or what not. if that monster would do it for that price?

Wow ... for that price I may just have to move back to Canada.

Maybe I wouldn't mind freezing my tits off if I was giving Noel Lee money so that he could continue working closer to world domination and shitting all over everything along the way.

Finding stuff to read about Monster's BS business practices shouldn't be too hard. They are a bad company filled with bad men and their marketing propaganda reads like Fantasy Adventure Fiction. Consider this fair warning.

what was the point of this post? i know monster is overpriced, but its about 50% off. i would never buy monster at their price. but ive bought tones of monster cables at 1/3rd of its orig. price at a local auto store before.

yea, i know i could get a better deal, the only reason why im even looking at getting this, as i would toss it on my futureshop card. if i dont buy this, then i will have to wait untill spring/summer time to buy something else. but im just curious as is it worth it to buy it for that money or not, or it wont be enough for what i want it to do? right now im just using a cheap power strip.

So, what benefit is there in putting it on your Future Shop card?

I don't have a firm grasp on the specifics of the technology, but the reason for that is that the metal oxide varistors that are responsible for taking the load away from your components (and thus dictate the joule or voltage limits of your surge protector) are not all created equal or arranged/connected the same way within a surge suppressor. This makes it complicated to make a universal recommendation on what one joule rating means vs another. If you're so inclined, there are plenty of websites that discuss the actual engineering behind the surge protector.
