Most Onkyos handle 4 ohm speakers okay

I have a question about the Behringer TRUTH B2031P (I like the specs on these better then the B2030P) it seems they are rated for 4 ohm's and my old onkyo ts dx656 is rated for 8/6 ohm's.. is there a way to change a resistor in the cross over to make the amp think it is seeing a 6 ohm load.
I know it would void the warrenty on the speakers but i dont see me having any problems with them I'm not hard on my gear i'm still using 4 infinity rs2 that are 10 years old now..
Thanks for the input I just hope i can find these after xmas is over.
The rating is the nominal impedance and varieswith frequency; it is not a single number. When you have a lower impedance number, e.g. 4 ohms, then more power is required, P=v^2/r =I *V =R*I^2 Typically AVRsare current limites and sometimes get a "Protect" fault when the current is too high when the volumeis turned up on lower ohm speakers. Some receivers that can handle 4 ohms are therefore designated as high current AVRs (receivers). The Onkyo handles 4 ohms very well, inn fact as good or better than most AVRs.

Bottom Line I wouldn't worry about it! your Onkyo should do fine. If you have pre-outs, you could always add an external amp later if you do run into "Protect" issues.

Nexttag proveides great deals on audio receivers and speakers by the way. Very good prices, consider them or price grabber when making a purchase. Most companies will give you a considerable discount and free shipping through those sites. Check for the lowest price on any unit and go from there.

Thanks Thats is the info i was looking for. Yes it does have pre-outs.
Does the b2030P / B2031P have a built in crossover?

Yes. Both the 2030 and 2031 are 2-way designs with passive crossovers.
