13.5'(width) x 42' (length) x 8' (tall) are the dimensions of room for HT.

prices about equal would you go for 6month old pc 12 NSD or 5 year old 20-39 pc plus?

going from no subwoofer to one of these two.

new one has warranty, older one rated higher.

Go with the Plus in my opinion, you can always get a newer updated driver from SVS, even upgrading from what's in that to a 12.3 woofer would be noticeable, not sure if the latest 12.4 woofers are compatible, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could use them. You could always contact SVS, they would know best.

The new 12.4 drivers are not compatible... different size and mounting...

The Plus is a pretty darn good sub, I would opt for that one personally...

It was my understanding that the current PC has about the same output as the older Plus, however the Plus has a more powerful amp and variable tuning.

And a more controlled driver....

I would always opt for a better quality driver, so things weren't so muddy...

Yes, I do believe the old Plus driver is still superior to the NSD driver. That is not to say that the current NSD driver is going to sound "muddy" :)

I would go for the Pus too. Speaking of subs.........[getting ready to hijack thread, sorry :D] My Ultra doesn't sound as strong as it once did. I'm wondering if I'm getting some bass suckout since I moved my equipment to a new room. Should I add another one? And if so, should I worry about them being identical subs?

Measure your room and your response

I assume by your equip list you don't have an EQ. You really need to extinguish the room problems before spending more money on a second sub, not that I am against that, you should certainly know what you are dealing with if you can EQ or treat the problem before dumping another $1500

I have not taken measurements, but the room is 21x16. However, there are 2 alcoves (one to the left, the other to the right of the seating position). These alcoves are each a 6x6 ft area and I am not including these areas in my room measurement. It has been noted by GIK Acoustics that these alcoves could be the culprit. My long term goal is to block off these areas with drywall and add a door to each side, creating 2 closets in the room I can use for storage or equipment. Of course, I'm not at a point currently where I can complete this project. I suppose you are right and should try treatment options first, but I like the idea of dual subs to help even out the response.
