Should I Get A Subwoofer?

My speakers are KRK VXT 6 (I have them hooked into my computer's soundcard) and I have been listening to them very near field (like, less than 2 ft apart), but I was messing around and put them about 5 feet apart and things really started sounding interesting! It sounded as if musicians were really in front of me. It was very cool! BUT!

I couldn't feel the bass at all. ;_;
Though it sounded like there was a stage infront of me, the lack of low frequencies made the experience unenjoyable. If I put the speakers on my desk real close to each other I can start to feel things again, but I miss the spaciousness of having them further apart.

Do I need a subwoofer, or something? D;

I was thinking about getting the matching sub they make, the KRK10s

But I can only find it for 320$. ;[

Should I get a sub at all? If so, what would you recommend? Should I just save up for the KRK10s? Is there something better?

Thanks so much guys!

I wouldn't get that sub. If you want to spend less, look at the dayton sub 100 or 120. It makes for a fantastic multimedia sub and won't break the bank. There are some great DIY options as well if you feel so inclined...
