Running an older onkyo tx-36 50wpc to technics sbl71's what gauge of wire do I need? Wire run is pretty long probably 10ft in each direction( garage setup) always used the smallest crap in the past, will better wire sound better?

18 ga would be fine for 10 runs and that's not long, at all. 100' is another story.

That was some really good info! after measuring the runs they are more like 16ft, I think I'll try using a spool of 14-2 romex I have lefter over.thanks:)

10' or 16' makes absolutely no difference and 14-2 isn't needed for a 50W/Ch receiver. If you want to find out how much current the cable is carrying, learn Ohm's Law. P=E²/R and at 50W through 8 Ohms, it's only 2.5A. Through 4 Ohms, it's 5A and even that's not a problem at this length.
