Not sure if LCD's have hours counter like Plasmas but I can post some service menu access codes if you want.

Mitsubishi
{MENU} {0} {1} {5} {7}
{MENU} {0} {3} {5} {3}
{MENU} {0} {3} {5} {7}
{MENU} {1} {2} {5} {7}
{MENU} {1} {2} {5} {9}
{MENU} {1} {3} {7} {0}
{MENU} {2} {3} {5} {6}
{MENU} {2} {3} {5} {7}
{MENU} {2} {3} {5} {8}
{MENU} {2} {3} {5} {9}
{MENU} {2} {4} {5} {7}
{MENU} {8} {2} {5} {7}

More codes can be found here:

http://www.hdtvoice.com/voice/showthread.php?t=1714

Toshiba usually uses this code most:

  • Press and hold the {MUTE} button on the remote
    and the {MENU} button on the TV's front panel.

Panasonic
Try this:

  • Hold down the {VOL -} button ON THE TV.
  • And then the {RECALL} button 3 times on the remote.

The "S" stands for Service (Menu).
And yep, in most cases you have to turn the power off to save settings/exit the service menu.

panasonic doesn't have a recall button.
Try the {INFO} button instead.

I have no experience with Panasonic LCDs. And even though most menus might be the same on both Plasmas/LCDs there are some options that won't be available in one or other.

Here's how to check the hours used on Panny Plasmas. Try it to see if it works on LCDs as well.

  • Hold down the {VOL -} button ON THE PLASMA.
  • Press the {INFO} button on the remote control 3 times.
  • The Service Menu will be displayed with the following menus:

    • ADJUST
    • WD-ADJUST
    • OPTION
    • AGING (Red Screen)
    • RM-SET
    • SRV-TOOL

    The {1} & {2} buttons move through menus (up/down).

  • Press the {2} button once or
    press the {1} button six times to select "SRV-TOOL".

  • Then press the {OK} button to access it.

  • Using the cursor keys, * highlight * the right side of the last option: PTCT :00.00.00.00.00

    |----------------------|---------------------|
    | TD2Microde: 81c0000f |
    |----------------------|---------------------|
    | Flash ROM: 1 - 227 e |
    |----------------------|---------------------|
    | PTCT :00.00.00.00.00 | * HIGHLIGHT HERE *
    |----------------------|---------------------|

  • Then press and hold the {MUTE} button for 3 seconds.

  • Time and Count will be displayed in red color.

    TIME = Hours and minutes of operation.
    COUNT = Times the Plasma was powered on.

  • To exit, press and hold the {POWER} button
    on the Plasma for few seconds.
