The neighbors will arrange a lynching most likely if you do, especially if your vibratory experiments result in knocking expensive glassware off of shelves in your neighbor's home.
I like that:D I can see it now neighbours shouting out the front on your with picket signs.

Botman, I did not realize the Axis 12" drivers were on sale at PE. In that case, you can consider this OR the Sound Splinter RL-S 12". The RL-S will have a little bit less total output/SPL potential but greater over-all motor linearity at extreme excursion. The AXIS will have more output potential at the expense of some linearity at extreme excursion. Both are world class, and superior to just bout anything else at any cost.

TC Sounds/Audio Pulse designed the LMS Ultra(the motor used on the RL-S) to have ultimate SQ with extreme SPL capability, but oriented a little more towards SQ. The AXIS was designed to have immense SPL while retaining 'most' of the SQ, but a little more oriented for maximum SPL. In the end, it would be a wash at moderate to medium high SPL - with both having identical SQ. It's at the extreme end/level of SPL that they two will have some differentiation.

$400 w/free shipping will make the AXIS around $100 cheaper than the 12" RL-S each. It would be a hard decision for me. It would come down to modeling both drivers and deciding which one has better performance in the size / type cabinet you want to use.

Thanks Chris,

I have been following comments made in other posts concerning the RL-S 12" driver. The thread "Dual sealed subs using RL-s12's?" is pertinent to my interests. I understand I would need an amplifier like the P7000S and would have to use the DCX2496.

I want to use a closed prefab cabinet @ 3 Cu. Ft. Primarily because I do not see one larger on any site I have been to and I am limited somewhat by my room. Would the modeling change depending on the Axis or the RL-S in these conditions. Would I need a larger amp in the 3 Cu. Ft. cabinet. Additionally, how would I determine the settings for the DCX and what kind of cables would I need. I know these are a lot of noob questions but I am over my head here. How good a sub will this be in a closed 3 Cu. Ft. cabinet? Also, like basspig suggested, will I destroy my house with this thing? The wife would not like that. However, I want to build the best sub possible within my capabilities.

It needs to perform well for music and HT. My speakers are B & W 804S in a 5.1 config. amd my amp is rated @ 140 watt.

Thanks to all who have commented.
