Multi-cable speaker cables

I'm looking at setting up 4-way externally crossed-over speakers. This means that I'll need to run 4 pairs of speaker wires from my rack to each speaker.

I could run standard wire and cover it in conduit: but I'm curious if anyone know of, or has recommendations about, two or four pair wires. Monoprice and BJC both have four pair cable, but it seems to be about bi-wiring rather than bi-(in my case quad)-amping.

I would go with Canare 4s11 wire. I made my custom cables with it and it is very high quality and should serve you well. It may actually be the same as what BJC sells.

I agree with Gordon that connectors and quality of termination are important. Although I have biwire cables, knowing what I do now, I probably wouldnt buy them again. Instead, I would now go for better quality single wire cable, with wire jumpers replacing the normal metal links between the speaker terminals.

The above post confused me. Is it a response to a different thread?

Four conductor speaker cable is common and it can be found in various gauges. You may need to, or want to, run two four conductor cables and use some kind of cosmetic sheath to conceal everything, or in the sheath, you can run four separate two conductor wires with heavier gauge on the low pass.

To keep it simple, I would run two four conductor cables, one 16 ga (for the two upper range drivers) and one 12AWG or 14AWG, depending on power and demand. You can usually find speaker cable with different colored jacket, too. To keep from having to buy moe than one gauge, using one size will save money and all you need to do is label each one (which I think you'd do, anyway).

A lot of the 4-conductor cable I found seemed to have a "combined gauge" rather than per-wire: though at this point the trigger has already been pulled (standard 2-wire speaker-wire labeled and bundled in a sheath).
