Help in upgrading A/V Receiver???

Good evening to all - Greetings and salutations from Dallas, TX...I hope all is well in your world(s)...

I currently have the Pioneer Elite VSX-24TX (About 8 years old?) - With Paradigm all around - PDR 10 sub, Titan 236963 and Atoms 16239.

Short story is no HDMI inputs and way to many wires...

The issue is my Samsung HDTV is the first generation DLP with no HDMI - Only one DVI and two component connections (Plus s-video, video and RCA).

Wife wants a bluray added to the "system" with an existing DVD payer/recorder, VCR, Turntable, cable box and video games, with only 1 DVI connection on TV with no HDMI on receiver.

I have little cash $300, but can sell my existing receivers (Pioneer Elite VSX-24TX, a Denon AVR-900, and Yamaha HTR-5590) along with a Bose single cube speaker system to drum up the needed cash to upgrade to a A/V receiver with 4+ HDMI connections without sacrificing any of the sound quality I have today.

Any suggestions a good replacement and while I am here, I hope the speakers will compliment whatever I end up buying?

I bought the Pioneer Elite VSX-23 and like it. I paid $900 at Best Buy because, well, I was impatient and couldn't wait. I've seen it there for $700 on sale (although they had none in stock), but I've also seen it for about $570 on Amazon through third party sellers. Now, if you buy an Elite online, you won't get the factory warranty. However, the seller may offer one, and buying through Amazon offers some protection. I only mention these third party sellers (who I used to avoid like the plague) because a friend of mine bought a VSX-21 on Amazon through a place called Your Deals for about $500, and the unit arrived brand new as advertised.

Just wanted to throw out the suggestion of the Pioneer Elites, as you already own one.

Take a look at the Onkyo RC-160. It has 5 HDMI ports.

No matter which AVR you settle on your TV may be the limiting factor unless it is an HDCP compliant TV. Is it? If it isn't you won't get much more out of a BluRay player than what a decent DVD player delivers. You can play the new audio formats but the AVR won't pass the video from HDMI to component and the BluRay player won't be able to output video over component if it is playing protected content even if it comes with component output.

If you don't like the sound of HDCP any more than I do drop Intel Corp a line and let them know - they are the ones that came up with HDCP - and Hollywood wanted a way of protecting themselves from pirating. Trouble is until they come up with a DVD or CD that you just can't play at all someone will come up with a way of copying it.

Most DVI inputs in recent tv's are hdcp compliant. So you can use the same DVI to HDMI cable I use from my receiver to my projector.

For 300 you can pick up an HK AVR 254. They aren't the greatest, but still get the job done.
