Sony BDP-S550 and Netflix

I have the S550 and have been waiting patiently to hear something regarding a firmware update to stream Netflix. Has anyone heard if this will or will not be available or where I can find the info other than the useless Sony website?

I will sell it and get one that does if they are not going to offer it but don't want to jump the gun. Other than the non movie streaming option it's a great player.

My guess is that there will be another player like the N460 coming out that has mutlichannel analog outs so it is unlikely that they will release an update for the existing models to add this feature, though they did for the TVs, so who knows.

I thought about that but if I can just get the Netflix option included in the blu-ray player I'd only have one component vs. two.

Plus, I don't know anything about the Roku (quality, hookup, compatability etc.) I could do a bit of research, but if a player already has the option than why bother, right?

I don't think you'll ever get streaming with the 550. I have a Roku box, and it's pretty decent for the price really. They just added several new "channels'. I mean, you're gonna have to buy a new player that can stream right? You'll take a loss trying to sell the 550.

Just a thought.

What version of firmware does it say you have?
