Amazon has the Panny BD60 and Up on blu-ray for $125 (add to your cart separately), and it drops to $115 if you pay with your Discover Card.

Wow. I paid $200 for the player alone just a few months ago (twice because I bought two). Quite a deal, IMO! I might just need to order one for my parents.

I almost bought one yesterday for $129, but this would make it even better. Though I already have Up :)

I would like to thank you for spending my money.

My friends would like to thank you for enabling me to decide which gifts to give them.

Most likely, I will replace my own player, and give my super trusty BD30 to my good friend with 720p PJ, with no bdp.

Already bought. Deal is still good at this time.

Your most welcome. :D Congrats on the new player! I've been very happy with mine. I'll be happier once inexpensive players have a bit quicker load times, but the audio/video performance is fantastic.

In case anyone is still on the fence about this deal, for $10 more you can grab another 2 great blurays, see this thread. Quite a good deal!

Darnit!!! Up + bd60 already shipped. I definitely would have added the other two for only $10. I guess it's too late.

I've always had good luck with Amazon's customer service, it's worth calling/chatting and see if you can strike a deal. The curse of finding a better deal...it's difficult to deal with, I know.

Welp, just got off the phone. She was nice and pleasant, but that was pretty frustrating. Sigh.

No go for me. I could return the items when they arrive, and go through the whole process again, assuming the deal is still even available, but I'm not going to go through with the hassle.

Sorry to hear that Jostenmeat. Perhaps you can score some nice stand alone bluray deals this weekend if you find some left overs in stores...little consolation I know, but you still got a great price on a great bluray player!

Folks, I recently bought a Sony dvd player since I dismantled my set-up. Thus, the Sony was very good at upconverting regular dvds. However, I was within my 90-days bring back period that Walmart offers. As such, I took it back and was refunded $63.57.

HHgregg had the Panny BD60 BR player on a Black Friday deal for $130 plus tax and a $30 mail in rebate. So, I decided to go for it and get the Panny BR player. After taxes, I will end up paying about $109 for the BD60. Hence, I am only out an extra $45 for upgrading to the Panny BR player. Is this a good deal OR would I had been better off waiting until BR player prices fall even lower? Just curious as to whether or not I made a good decision. Feel free to chime in and share your thoughts. :);):)

Cheers,

Phil

Phil I believe you got a very good deal on a great bluray player. Paying $45 extra for the Panny is well worth is in my opinion. I know the prices on players continue to fall, but I don't see quality player such as the Panny falling much further than $100 for quite some time. I would enjoy your unit and don't let it bother you if the price drops in a few months, although I doubt it would be a significant drop regardless.

Nice verse!

Thanks for your approval. My local HHgregg had plenty of the Panny BD60 for that price which really surprised me. In fact, they had the Toshiba BR player for $99 with a $20 mail in rebate. I almost opted for the Toshiba instead. However, I have owned a Panny BR player before and absolutely loved it. Thanks for noticing my quote. It is one of my favorites that has stuck with me. I read Billy Graham every single day. :);):)

I submitted a new one, but probably should just have put it in this thread. BD-60 is $109 with free shipping today (Cyber Monday) at www.tigerdirect.com I ordered one that I will probably give as a X-mas gift.

Now that I have ordered this out of a pure jerk knee reaction I realized that it doesn't have 6/8 channel out and my rec'r doesn't have HDMI. So on the optical audio do I want bitstream or LPCM?

I'm mad at you guys BTW. :)

LPCM won't quite work via optical - it will give you stereo only when choosing an uncompressed track. Not sure about TrueHD or dts-HD, but if you have it set to bitstream, you will still get 5.1 sound at a higher bitrate than standard DD/dts.

The BD-80 is the one with the analog outs.

So, it looks like I did get a good deal on my BD60. After my mail in rebate, I will also have $109 invested. I doubt it will go much lower than that anytime soon. Congrats to you John for getting such a good deal as well. ;):);)

Way to do your homework first. :p

Congrats on the new player! The optical connection will sound just great, and like John said, use the bitstream option. I was using optical before I got my new receiver and didn't have any issues at all.

Whether the player gets cheaper or not (which it actually is...just a bit...right now), you only paid $110. You can't incur too much regret over that. :)
