Hi,
With my HTPC I use a PCI analogue TV tuner with inputs to play my consoles, VCR and PVR over my PC screen. It has a composite and an S-Video input. Composite gives a fairly good picture when used with D-Scaler but its not very sharp so I decided to get an S-Video cable to improve the picture quality. The picture is actually worst than with composite as there are loads of soft diagonal lines all across the picture and this really makes it look worst. I have tried all the filter and deinterlace options with D-Scaler and I get the same result.
The pictures attached show composite on the left and s video on the right, you should be able to see the lines I am talking about. When on a 22" LCD they look even worst than in the picture.
Is this actually what S-Video signals usually look like? I have never really used it as I use RGB SCART for practically everything and I would here if I could find a card that supports RGB and is cheap like this card, that I got for £12 as it was clearance. The PVR is the only thing I have that does it apart from my N64. I am using the cable from a SCART adapter as it does not have a dedicated output and I have set it to output S-Video.
Any ideas what I can do or whats causing this?
