PS3 output questions DAC questions

I have a ps3 I will use as a cd player.

My preamp only has RCA inputs.

1) Will my ps3 be the hardware that does DAC work(when using the RCA output cord from the PS3)?

2) If I get a preamp or receiver with optical and/or HDMI inputs, will my receiver now take over the DAC work?

You got it...

The DAC in the PS3 will convert to analog when using its RCA outputs..

If you use any digital transport, the other end will do the work.

No. The optical cable transmits a digital signal, and then your receiver will convert it to analog.
