Looking for a quality display for a 13 by 13 bedroom. Of course, it would be great to get a great deal, but quality and a display that is a little future proof would also be nice.
Thanks BMW

What's you're budget? How far will you be away from the set when watching tv?

Probably be about 11 feet away. Budget, good question. I think I would like to know my options as money will not be a huge factor.

Best bang for buck IMO is a projector + 100" screen.

You have to a state budget eventually.

Flat panel with biggest size, best value is most likely a 65" S1 + pro cal, or do the best that you can with SM offsets. No gamma controls.

Give up 5" or 17% size, and get the greatest flat panel ever made in the history of mankind, a Pioneer 141/151/600m. It's the last that has been had for a steal lately. I have no idea what the rep of this retailer is, but here's a place:

When you compare that 2.7k price tag, to $7,000 for the 141 at my local Magnolia, you get an idea of how good the pricing is.

The one performance feature you are missing is CALcontrol ISFccc, but you can have the patch installed. Here is a list of calibrators that can do that for you, and then use it accordingly.

There ya go:

I would do a 60" for your situation. This is considered one of the best HDTV'S ever and I think you would be very happy with it. I would recommend a calibration after the break in period. Also I would suggest getting an extended warranty from CPS, MACK, or SQUARE TRADE.http://www.monitoroutlet.com/product/code,36124.html

The next best TV after the Pio's is the Panasonic V10.

Picture quality is , of course very impt. A display that has its own sound would be good as I am not planning on doing sound in my bedroom.

Not that this will have any technical enthusiasm driving or enhancing your purchase but I was in the same boat as yourself...

I went out and purchased a panasonic G15 50" today. The difference in price between the 46" and 50" is probably as many dollars, literally. It seemed like the way to go... especially considering the savings. Picked it up today for $1250.oo . The V series was just out of my budget unfortunately... and quite frankly dirty movies just dont get produced in good enough quality to warrant the purchase of a TV over 2000 dollars (so says the GF:p)...

:D
