I can't believe the pirates would be this stupid.

Seriously, I have no life.
"In an interview with Britain's Channel 4 news program, the Chandlers are seen surrounded by armed men, some of whom have their guns pointed directly at the couple.

'I have no doubt that they will not hesitate to kill us in a week or so from now,' Paul Chandler, 59, said in the interview, filmed by a Channel 4 crew on Wednesday."

If they do that, waddaya want to bet that the attacked ships start blowing their little skiffs out of the water upon sight.
They just tried to attack the Maersk Alabama again. The last time, the three who were still with the captain, well, we all know what happened to them.

When you have governments and private organizations paying 3.3 million in ransom money the risks are worth it to them I suppose.

The gene pool was scrubbed and sanitized;):D
Unfortunately, it was only on a very small scale.

I guess they'd be considered similar to the gangsters of the '20s and '30s. Cajones as big as a beach ball and willing to try anything.

Bluntly yes.

The pirates get all the girls, so actuallty the gene pool is preferencing pirates right now. It's the difference between wealth/local hero status and poverty/starvation. Same reason people run drugs.

Here's a novel idea. Don't sail your fancy yacht in pirate invested waters!

At some future point, and for some other person: likely yes.

Humans think in the short term and personal. It's why we smoke, buy on debt, eat junk food, pollute, etc.

Not everyone lives that way. It'd be nice if less of us did. I know I fight the urges. They say the way to wealth is simply start thinking long term with your finances .;)

No. Not everyone, and not all of the time in all things.

But obviously "many" and "a lot of the time".

Except, only the folks at the very top are the ones making money.
