Keep in mind, this is all work in progress! :D

Into the dark abyss of the attic to run speaker wires across the room! It wouldn't have been so bad....had I not waited till 1:30P to do it! It was crazy hot today, so the attic was insanely hot and humid

All for the wall mounted surrounds!

Once I got the poker table light up, I decided to take some progress pics of the room:

From the middle of the room:

The equipment thus far:

The seating: (I'm thinking of adding a riser...just gotta plan the space just right....)

More pics to come as I continue to perfect the room!

Hello KASR.

The room really looks good. It's really coming along nicely. Your system is pretty sweet also.
A little suggestion regarding the front speaker positioning.
If you could move them forward maybe 6 to 7 inches, maintaining the slight toe-in, you may get better imaging. Especially with 2 channel playback, that's if listen to music in that format.;) The Harman Kardon is a very musical AVR.
How has it been in regards to HDMI/HDCP compatibility? The reason I ask is because there have been threads expressing that very concern, especially when the XBox 360 or PS3 is being routed thru the AVR via, HDMI.

Regards.

Yea, I've been meaning to move those forward - I have an 8 month old that is learning to stand/walk, so naturally she goes right for the H/T setup! LOL!
I'm gonna fiddle with my crossover and move those forward though, I've got the H/K moving some of the center channel sound to the L/R, so I think moving them forward would also help the overall sound for movies.

For the time being, I'm using the component hookup for the 360, since I have the pro (and it only supports up to 1080i) and going toslink for sound. Since the 154 only supports video pass-through, I've been eyeballing a receiver upgrade (a big maybe, since I've spent quite a bit in the past month alone!) :D

Hey - my system sounds alittle better this weekend....I think it has something to do with my new center that came in! It's "alittle" different than the previous Polk center I was using :D

Whaddaya know - size does matter!

Looks good. Just thank yourself lucky that you did not have to go in the attic to run wire and have to deal with insulation. That is how our attic is.

Actually, I did have to run the rear surround sound speaker wires to and from in the attic - was hot as holy heck up there! (of course, waiting to do it at the hottest part of the day prolly wasn't the best call on my part!) LOL!

Quick update!
Ok, so here's the setup so far. I'm chomping at the bit to upgrade the front monitor 50's, but I'm also currently working on a riser behind the theater seats, painting the room a dark, non-gloss color, DIY sub....you know how it goes! :D

60" at about 8 feet away - I'm actually standing behind the theater seats and shooting over the backs, so the depth of the room looks longer. I've been playing with distance on the chairs and setting up the best possible sound-field. I've been thinking about which color to paint the interior walls of the room - but this is what it looks like at full luminance from the two torch lamps.

The rack - The rack used to be this brushed steal color and it matched my Sony Wega 3LCD HDTV....but those days are gone - so I took some black, non-gloss spraypaint to the racks and it made a HUGE difference. The Rack used to look fuller with the H/K AVR154, but now that I've got the Marantz slimline, everything has more breathing room - at first it took some getting used to, but it has really grown on me.

Seating arrangement - snagged these three reclining theater seats on craigslist for a steal! I have painted two high-back barstools for the riser that I am currently working on. The plan is to build the riser with a round barstool table in the middle - so when you want to eat and watch movies, you won't be eating on the leather seats. It'll also allow more seating. Here you can also see the RM6750 satellite being put to good use, using the paramount by peerless wall and ceiling mounting arms.
The bag drapes covering the large picture window is the Kohl's special - light cancelling, sound deadening curtains x 4. However, we all know that they work maybe 75% of the time....that's why I lined the glass window with DIY window tint - no more sunlight (since that's the east window)

Here's another angle, as we can see...this is the MAN-ROOM! LOL! On the other side of the room, we have the poker table, hanging light and poker memorabilia. You can also see how most of the HT-Room stays dim even when the poker light is on. this picture has my old AVR154 and a little re-arranged rack. You can also see that this was before I got the CS1 for the center - but once those pieces were in place, I did alittle re-arranging to the way it is now.

Another view of the other-end of the Man-Room. I have moved the cabinet humidor into the formal living room to allow more breathing space for the weekly poker games...that and I didn't want my friends jacking all my cigars!!!

Still a work in progress, but loving the direction it's going in....God, what a hobby!

I've also posted the original floor plan as an attached image.

If you want to try improving the sound. My suggestion is you either ditch the center channel or spread the L-R channels out further. ideally they'd be at a 30 degree angle from your seating. The problem is that pesky corner though. So I'd suggest you just unhook the center can go phantom.

The L-R channels and Center are very close. I think you will have interference competing with each other from the channels.

I have the same issue in my setup and phantoming it helped a lot.

It's something you can give a go and see what you prefer.

Thanks for the comments, brother - yea, I've been wanting to get the L-C-R out on the proper angle spread....just hard to do with the little one (1yr old) roaming around freely now....not to mention the 4 OTHER kids I've got! D'oh!
I'm considering on taking out one of the racks to make room to do so...still tinkering

You room makes me want to do some projects of my own XD
I agree with the suggestion of spreading the speakers out or going phantom. I've found that sometimes eliminating my center channel can make things sound better sometimes.
Can't wait to see how the room develops!

I would get the TV mounted on wall and condense the equipment racks below. That would give you more options on L/R placement.

Lastest additional to the home theater....more wall art!

KASR's version of the TrueHD logo:

Here is a redesign I did today of one of my entries for the Polk Hitmaster t-shirt design contest. Why let good designs go to waste, right? So I made a frame piece out of it and it came out pretty good! :D
