I'm trying so hard to rationalize spending the money on a BR copy of this, but my head tells me I'm going to be so disappointed. Someone convince me that this wont ruin the indelible memories of my childhood!
It will ruin it completely.:D

Man, I remember sitting in front of the TV everyday after school as a kid to watch GI Joe.

And Duke was kind of a "father-figure" or at least a "leader" or "teacher" figure that kids could look up to. He would give us these little safety tips and that famous "Knowing is half the battle" talk.

And the "Duke" in this GI Joe is a joke.

Knowing IS half the battle, but whimsical free spending on things I WANT to be cool is the other half :) fail.

Oh my gosh. I thought his movie was so bad.

And I loved GI Joe (& Transformers) growing up. I used to watch them every single day after school.

And unless they change most of the casts, I refuse to watch any sequels.:D
I enjoyed it so much I just watched it again and enjoyed it even more :D

I suggest renting it since it appears to be one of those movies you'll either like it or hate it and in my honest oppinion the special effects along with the LFE alone was incredible and worth the purchase but maybe it depends on your system and personal tastes :)

Personally, when I heard that the director from the Mummy was doing it I started doubting. I liked the Mummy, but all the ones after the original just kept getting worse.

When it came out in theaters I waited for a bit, cleared my mind of all thoughts about any G.I. Joe, and took it for it's own story. With that, I thought that they did a good job with the story and the effects were pretty good.

I agree that adding a mouth to snake eyes was lame, but I'll live with it. I thought that the chase scene through Paris was really lame, especially with scarlet riding the mortorcycle.

I think that if they do sequels we will see Duke taking on the leadership role that we have known him to have in the past and General Hawk will probably become more of a background role, or just go away completely. This was called the rise of Cobra, so I like how they gave a background story for almost everybody and we could see how all of the major characters relate to each other (even if those aren't technically right when you look back on the cartoons) and how Cobra came to be. I think it may have some pretty good sequals as long as I keep thinking of it as it's own story completely separate from the cartoons.

I bought this movie for my 7 year old son - only aware of GI Joe as the doll .... errr - make that action figure from when I was a kid. I had no idea they made a comic book and series from the doll ... oops -- action figure. Even so I totally enjoyed the non-stop-rollercoaster-special-effects-thrill-ride. Great special (and outlandish) effects and really some cool audio effects.

I didn't really care for this movie, but I will probably watch the sequel whenever it comes out.

This is the worst movie I've seen since Cloverfield.

I give it 2.5 out of 10 all the way around.

But, honestly, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it.
I agree with you. Its great from a sound effects bass pounder movie and the eye candy isn't bad but the plot sucks. I definatley won't be buying this one
