I can't advise you on your bass and system needs as I am a noob to the Audio scene, but wanted to chime in regarding the wireless element of your setup. Are you planning to have an Airport Express in the mix?

If you haven't yet considered this, then I must highly recommend it. As an owner/user of an AirPort Express plugged into my receiver, I love being able to stream my entire iTunes library over my living room sound system, and control it all from my iPhone via the remote app. The best adjective I can think of is badass. :D

Of course there are other wireless solutions out there and you may have already decided on your method, but if not it is definitely worth consideration.

FWIW, You can get a refurbished one from Apple for $85 and it carries the same warranty.

Good luck with your system!
I have in fact researched and do plan on buying the Airport for use with my Audioengine A5's. There is a plug in the back of the main bookshelf speaker to use with this exact device and one of the main reasons I purchased the product in the first place.

A connection directly to the speaker? That is very interesting. I didn't realize that some bookshelves have a direct line-in like that. How do you switch it over so that the speaker is outputting from the airport express instead of say your dvd player or FM tuner?

I have my Express connected to my receiver into the Aux-in port using a Monster mini-to-optical digital Toslink audio cable. From there i just select my aux-in input on my receiver remote and then press play in iTunes and I'm good to go.

I was referring to the Power plug located on the back of the left speaker.

There are two 1/8" inputs on the bookshelves. I can probably just insert the jack on the top of the speaker when I want to use a wireless connection. The problem is, I will most likely want to have my subwoofer connected to the output on the back of my main PC subwoofer out. Unless I find it easier to simply connect the subwoofer to the subwoofer out on the bookshelves. I haven't decided which route will work until I get everything hooked up.
