Well folks, it is Veteran's Day tomorrow. Let me be the first to say that I, for one, is very grateful to the sacrifices made and/or are being made by these brave men and women. Securing our nation's safety is no easy task and does come at a cost. With that being said, allow me to say Thank You!!!!!!!

I have also noticed that locally Golden Corral and Applebee's are both offering a free meal to any Veteran and/or Active Military tomorrow. This is a nice gesture on their part. However, I have always believed that we need to do MORE for our military service people. As such, I salute Golden Corral and Applebee's for doing their part. Maybe there will be others to follow! :);):)

Cheers,

Phil

People have always been super nice to me. I get free meals, drinks, jumped to the head of lines etc, and thanked for my service on a near daily basis.

It definitely makes me proud to serve, knowing that the people I do my job for are grateful!

And for all fellow armed forces, thank you for your service! <img src=http://forums.tccoa.com/images/smilies/SailorSalute.gif>

This is great to hear. There is nothing like getting respect and appreciation imho. Especially, when we all know what our service people do does make a BIG difference. I have always respected authority-the reason being was simple: My grandmother never gave me any other choice........LOL!!!! ;):p;) I still say that woman had eyes in the back of her head......hehehehe!!!!!:eek::eek: Seems like I never got away with anything. She knew all of the tricks. Thanks so much for posting.

Cheers,

Agreed. The new GI bill was a start. We should make sure they are properly equipped to do their job. We should do everything possible to avoid putting them in harms way (unneccessairy wars), we should pay more attention to their mental health.

We should also make sure they get good, ongoing support for wounds both phyical and mental. Calling service-related injuries and trauma "pre-existing conditions" is just unacceptable.

We should also hold them to the highest standards of behavior. The ongoing gang activity in major bases, the sexual assaults, and any number of other horrable activities: by being tolerated, places a black mark on all the fine men and women who serve proudly.

All very good points. We have come a long ways, but as you point out we have plenty of room for improvement. We all know change does not come easily NOR does it happen quickly. Perhaps though, we are moving in the right direction. Thanks for posting! :);):)

Folks, I hope you all are having a good Veteran's Day. I had to have an upper GI done this morning with a small bowel follow through. Yes, I had to drink that barium stuff and take lots of X-rays-Yuck!!!!!!:eek::eek: However, going through that is absolutely nothing what our troops are doing to keep our nation secured. As such, I salute each and every one of you. Keep up the good work and please stay safe. ;):);)
