I'm looking for new ipod and pc speakers. And came across these Swan speakers, and wasn't sure if the speakers are a good purchase or not.
Any comments on the spec's of the speakers would be great.

Audio Insider sells them, the speakers are the mk200III $399.99
Couldn't post link it's my first post here.

I am guessing these are the Swans you are talking about.

They look good to me but I have no experience with SWAN. I can recommend NHT M-00 but they are more expensive.

Welcome to the Forum muzzy!

If it’s the M200 mkII you’re talking about – just get them, they’re awesome. I doubt you can do better for the price - $229 (not $399). New Egg used to sell them – check the user reviews, 88% 4 or 5 star.

Couple them with a small 8" or 10" sub and you'll have a rockin' PC system.

No he is talking about the new model mkIII.

Ah. Strange, I googled “swans m200mkiii and got nothing...

Anyway – it’s the same speaker with double the power . If another 2-3 dB output is worth the extra $170, then by all means go for it! :)

Thanks for the replies

Would you guys recommend a subwoofer for these speakers, or these speakers are just fine without one?

Get a sub with them - they're only good to 100 Hz or so...

i have the D1080MKII's. they are pretty nice for the money. i have em as my office tv speakers, with a DAYTON SUB120. they rock pretty darn good ! and they are mounted open air. put up against a wall and near field, like a typical computer setup,

open air = there are no walls around them.
near field = your head is close to them, like computer speakers on a desk. as opposed to sitting away from them, like your H/T speakers. i sit about 7' from these. with the sub open air under them.

I have the swans diva 4.2 towers and I am very pleased with the purchase. I say go for it. You won't find anything better at the same price.

Just fyi, folks, the MkIII is also biamplified, and has the laminated, milled hardwood sidepanels plus a couple of lesser feature upgrades. Sonically they're quite a step above the MkII.

Swans M200MKII owners or prospective buyers

I've had my 200MKII's for awhile now, and everything about the speaker is truly excellent. However, I did make a change in the woofer (switch to HiVi M5N aluminum-magnesium), and the good detail in the midrange is now is quite excellent and was a good change. This is not to say the original isn't already a very fine speaker, but I felt the change was needed. This is the same series of woofers used in the Diva 4.1, 5.1, 6.1 series.
