I'm currently using a Bose Wave Radio as computer speakers, by using the AUX setting. They sound pretty decent but would a pair of Logitech Z-2300 sound alot better?

Welcome to the forum, Erik!

I don't know the answer to your question, but can you buy the Z-2300 system from somewhere that will let you return it? If so, then you could check it our for yourself and return the new speakers if you don't think that they are worth it.

Haha Thanks for the welcome! I'll check Best Buy to see if they have them on display.

The only thing you lose with the Wave Radio is stereo separation. Otherwise it sounds pretty good and I don't think the Logitechs are going to sound better.

I have the Logitech Z-2300 speakers for my computer, and I would definitely recommend them. They are THX certified and have plenty of power and range. I would say the system is definitely geared more towards gaming/movies, as the subwoofer is pretty powerful, but music still sounds great.

As has been mentioned, your not going to notice the stereo effect with the Bose system, and you will have weak bass without a subwoofer.

If corner loaded, the wave radio actually has a surprising amount of bass (my dad has one). It uses a transmission line configuration to achieve bass from small drivers. It won't give you the same impact as a decent powered sub will though for sure.

If you want something much better(in a completely different league of sound quality), get a pair of Audio Engine A2 speakers plus a decent low cost sub like the Dayton 8" active unit from www.partsexpress.com and use your soundcard's built in xover function(if it's a surround sound card with bass management), and if it lacks the sub output, then use a Behringer CX2310 crossover. Be sure to place some good thick broad band sound absorbers on the back wall behind the computer (this will clear up the mids/upper bass with any speakers you choose).
