Emotiva needs to tell me if my exact features are included in the UMC-1! If so, I want to replace my Onkyo TX-NR906S with a UMC-1/UPA-7 combo immediately.

Hopefully it actually comes out this time. I really like EMO products, but they really dropped the ball with the UMC-1 releasing it so late. I also don't understand why they invented their own EQ system when something mature like Audyssey is out there. In any case, I'm sure it'll be a nice unit.

They get a lot of support from the Audioholics people and forum members. They should come around here and answer some questions, it'll stir up new business for them anyway. I'd drop $1400 right now if I knew the UMC-1 can do what I want it to do.

Wow, I really expected this to be a bigger deal. Are people just jaded because it’s taken so long?

I'm mildly interested as I'm in the market for a new pre/pro or good receiver. I'm also seriously looking at the Pioneer Elite sc-25.

I have one on pre-order. Just got my confirmation back this week. I also have an XMC-1 on pre-order. Hopefully that will come out sometime next year as well.

I have two 7.1 systems in my home that both need new pre/pros to make them completely "up-to-date" with HDMI and HD audio. So these will hopefully fit my bill for an affordable fix.

I am one of those people here at Audioholics that supports Emotiva and hope they do well. So far I have seen some really good quality products come out of their shop. They may not meet everybody's needs or desires, but for the most part their products are very high quality at affordable prices. They have had problems with their previous pre/pro the LMC-1 and it was a very hard lesson learned. The extra steps they have taken with the developement of the UMC-1 and XMC-1 platforms were because of those problems. Some may feel the time they have taken to get these items to market was excessive and took far too long compared to other companies, but I'd be willing to bet they won't except failure ever again.

So I just wait like everybody else and hope I get a package from Emotiva to play with around Christmas time.

As have I, but I’m worried I would be taking a big step backwards as I already have the XPA-5. I’m also weighing the merits of the UMC-1 vs a Yamaha RX-V663 as a pre/pro

The problem is that things change so fast in HT that they run the risk of obsolescence before they even get the product to market (eg Sunfire) esp when it takes more than a year to do it. The product is released and already needs upgrades and feature additions to compete with the Japanese. A problem that has killed many companies.

I just got off the phone with Emotiva – they said there will be a first “small” shipment around Thanksgiving with a somewhat larger shipment coming by boat a bit closer to Christmas. A big shipment to satisfy most requests is expected in January 2010.

Dang, I wish I were a patient person :(
