Yeah i think our navy needs a smaller more nimble fleet. The real threat these days are pirates. Just like the air force needs more nimble plains to deal with threats in Afghanistan.

How much more nimble do hey need to be? They have computer controlled flight controls because the plane itself is inherently unstable, which makes them perfect for doing things a normal plane can't. The Taliban and AlQaida have no air force, so I don't know what they would need to get away from, other than RPGs and SAMs.

It would be nice if the opponent would fight a conventional war. That alone would significantly shorten the battle. Not gonna happen, though.

well i think we are on the right track with our technology, our spy program is right on track,I am just saying that the price of technology should level out some day and make it easy.

BTW, the design is more about stealth than just speed. You'd be surprised I'd guess at how fast most naval ships are. I've been on this thing:

Cool ship, I was at the Commissioning of the Freedom in Milwaukee, the Littoral class is really building up to be some bad @$$ ships.... Got a tour of the Freedom and was very impressed with everything that went into what they incorporated into it tech wise...

I missed that- did they take it out and put it through its paces on the lake?

The Commisioning was basically a GTG for the Navy to Christen and dedication of the boat and all the ceremony that goes with it...

They did all the sea trials in Lake Michigan before hand....
