Hi

I have a single Carver Silver Edition Amazing Loudspeaker (don't ask about the one that is blown up) and a Carver TFM-45 power amp. Can anyone comment whether or not I could use the subs from the speaker and the amp to build a DYI sub for my HT?

It would take a lot of work. First I'd need t/s parameter for the drivers. To get those you'd need a woofer tester. Then I could help you with the box design if it were possible.

I still think for all this effort you may as well build your own sub from scratch

OK thx, was just a thought... even though it was brief.

Would I be able to use just the amp in a DIY sub project?

what are it's parameters for wattage and ohm load.

From the top of my head,

1,000 watts, 8ohm bridged
375rms 8ohm
500rms 4ohms

I would have to research whether or not it can drive to 2 ohms

Bridged mono power 1000 W
4/8-ohm FTC rated THD 0.5 %
Rated full power bandwidth 20-20kHz
S/N-IHF A-Weighted,dB 110
Slew Rate 180
Dimensions (HxWxD inches) 3.5x19x10.5

You can use either amp however you will be limited by the 500watts.

What's your budget for this?

No budget at the moment. Just trying to see if it is possible with what I have or would it be better to purchase something else. I have no rush either. Both posts above are the same amp. So, I guess you are saying that the limit is the 4ohm load? What about running it bridged?
