Looking for a CD with good drums

Michael Corvin "Drum Concerto at Dawn". Recorded at Mapleshade studios it has their typical extremely high quality sound.

It seems many people in the thread may be confusing 'exciting sounding' or 'good musical performance' examples of drum recordings with high-fidelity/realistic recordings of drums. These are two distinctly different things. I will stick to recommending the most realistic recording, musical value not withstanding, as the original poster seemed to be asking about drum track exclusive recordings of the highest recording quality.

Given this, I will also endorse the above MapleShade recording as being the most realistic drum recording I have experienced. Many tracks, if played back on a system of the highest caliber, can sound as if a real drum kit is being played in your presence. The main negative issue I must mention with this recording is that it has an audible hiss/noise floor due to the recording engineer's insane methods of refusing to use digital recording systems, and refusal to use any noise reduction systems when using analog tape recording systems. When playing back the recoding at realistic or near-realistic SPL - the hiss is quite prominent.

Carter's drum interlude during "Hello Again" is amazing...
Other than that John Bonham is the greatest rock drummer and 2 of the most exclusively sampled drum tracks I love are Misty Mountain Hop and Kashmir.

Check out Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. The track Drum Thunder Suite from the album Moanin is raw and powerful, really impressive on a decent system.

Recent discovery: Stanton Moore III.
Classified as "jazz" but really much more rock.
This guy doesn't just play the drums, he plays the hell out of the drums!
I second the Stanton Moore suggestion. His first solo album was from the same sessions as Garage A Trois, for those familiar. I had his first two discs at RMAF and they were hits among the showgoers. They are very cleanly recorded, with the drum tracks hot as hell on some songs. His albums feature some great musicians, too, like Charlie Hunter, Skerik, and Carl Denson. Jammin' stuff!

He's pretty good with his main gig, Galactic, too, but his solo discs seem more raw and real production wise, with more emphasis on his drumming.

The isomike 2008a test cd has a nice little drum solo on track 6 that's very realistic in presentation.

The Raconteurs Console of the Lonely is an excellent all around album, great tunes and well recorded. Keeler's drumming is amazing! The first track rips.

I'm going to snag some MapleShade recordings, these sound like something I will really like.

Just wondering if there's a well recorded CD that exclusively has drum tracks?
Its on DvD instead of CD, but Godsmack Changes or any of their other DvDs...
check this out:

Also, their Greatest hits CD has an included DvD that is likea
kickass Unplugged, and includes very nice drums. in 5.1.
Maybe a little too much splash cymbal, but otherwise AWESOME.

Happy Listening!

Rush of course...

But Rusted Root is also full of great drums and percussion. Plenty of there cd's, live or otherwise have great drums solos as well. Most of there music in general is backed up by some heavy drums and percussion.
