hi,
I have a Yamaha 365 and dream speakers and sub.
When I haven’t got a aerial cable plugged into either the DVD recorder or the TV the sub works perfect, but as soon as I plug the aerial into either the TV or DVD recorder the sub makes a continuous humming noise.
Have taken the sub and receiver in to be looked at but they can’t find any problem in either of those units,
anyone have an idea as to what the problem is
thanks shane

You have a ground look. Your system ground and the cable grounds are at different potential, and causing a current to flow between grounds and inducing the hum. This is a common almost universal problem.

You need a Jensen Model VRD-1FF ground isolator. This will work as long as you are not using a cable system.

That should read ground loop. It also should read as long as you are not using a satellite system, it will work fine for cable. Sorry too early in the morning!

thanks for the info,
read up on the problem and one suggestion was to run the aerial through a surge protection board and all is good with the sub now.
so thanks again for the info.
