It's funny how people think that exposed wiring all over the place is okay but cutting a hole in a wall and drilling through a floor is completely out of the picture. Even white RG-6 would have been a huge step in the right direction.

That is exactly why you DON'T leave someone alone to do the work like that !!!

Seriously, I have no life.
First, I can't see leaving someone alone in my place when I don't know them. EVER! Second, the cable guy said he could do the job but should have mentioned that little detail about not going through walls and the guy who lives there would just need to open his eyes when he drives around because you can see cable strung up on the outside of peoples' houses all over the place.

I also liked the comments, with other installers defending the way it was done.

Sweeeeeet!

I was all ready to jump down the installers throat until I saw that folding chair. Hell, the installer probably figured the guy didn't mind ugly w/ that ratty folding chair at the desk at the end of the video.

Seriously, I'm not defending the installer, but he did ask for an apartment install. Sometimes one can't fish through the walls of a leased multi-dwelling unit.

He did a good bit of work in a hour though. I'll give the installer that much credit.

Yeah- they can get a lot done in a shirt time when they only use one staple at the bottom and one at the top of a 16' vertical run.

It looked pretty plumb, though.

Lord that looks like the cable we had in my college apartments. We had one guy who subscribed to all the channels, then he ran a line to the two neighbors on both sides of him with a "y-splitter" then those two neighbors went to "Target" and "bought" their cable boxes (which at the time Target sold. ) I say bought because Target had a 90 day return policy where on the 90th day we would return the boxes get a full refund and buy another box for another 90 days, then do it one more time for the school year. Then at the end of the semester we would get our money back.

Anyway both neighbors then did this for the neighbors living on the othher side of them and so on and so on.. So all of us had a tiny whole drilled at the bottom of our nieghbors walls with a cable strung all along the floor. We all paid the one guy 10.00/month for cable to keep his service up. He made enough to get free cable all year long. It was funny seeing people wonder why every apartment had a cable running along the hall ways and into the wall to the next neighbor.

Of course we also figured that if you disconnected one red wire from the air conditioner system it would disconnect the air reading to the electric meter. So in AZ all apartments at the complex were at 70 degrees and nobody paid a cent for electricity on the unit. We had a warning system when the A/C guy would come to check the units. Each neighbor would call 2-3 other neighbors so they would hurry and reconnect the wire before he got to our unit. We would hook it up (took 30 seconds) he would come in just to "check things out" then look at the red wire and leave. one minute after he was gone, we would disconnect the wire again. I was told this by the previous renter and passed the info to the next renter, as far as I know 20 years later, they are still doing this.

Hey when your a poor college kid money is tight (cause cheap beer is expensive and more of a neccissity) ;) I seriously wish my home a/c unit had this tiny red wire I could diconnect, cause my bill is outrageous.

My favorite tip is "Never pet a burning dog".

Words to live by.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I would never hurt an animal, especially for fun.

Sure, you could pet it. Just make sure you do it with a flame retardant blanket while wearing a firefighter's suit.
