Hello my HK 130 Reciever just crashed...actually it just turns off after 3-4 minutes of listening to the radio at low levels. I actually unplugged every connection in the back, including speakers, and it still shuts off. So now I'm in the market for a new reciever. I want a better system than the HK that I had. However, I can't break the bank...probably can't spend more than about $500. I have two B&W bookshelf speakers DM600 S3's...probably about 4-5 years old. They are 100W max and 8 Ohms. I also have a B&W center channel speaker LCR-3...also 100W max and 8 Ohms. I'm kind of thinking about one day moving Bookshelf speakers to the back of the room and making them my surround speakers, but for now I'll probably leave them as the front speakers.

I've been looking at the new Pioneer VSX 1019AH-K for $509. Can anyone recommend something better in this price range? Denon? Yamaha? etc.

I really want to purchase the right receiver. I have a 34 inch Sony HD TV, but it only has one HDMI input so I guess I need a receiver that has several HDMI inputs so I can just run one output to my TV so I need something that can do all the switching that I need. I'm still kind of new to this, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jreg

Turn the speakers off or disconnect them, then turn it on and see if it turns off. If not, check your speaker wires. They should only have about 1/2" of insulation stripped off and the strands twisted. If they're OK, check the speakers- they may have a problem that's causing the problem. Look on the back for a switch that's for 4 Ohm or 8 Ohm operation and set it for the speakers you have.
