Greetings to all. Frequent lurker here, and must say I appreciate the immense wealth of advice I've read. I've come to be familiar on a name basis (but not auditory basis) with many new products through this site.
This leads me to my story... I've been hunting craigslist in my area for some bookshelf speakers to replace my super finicky Klipsch promedia's. Came across an ad for some Paradigm speakers, so I looked into it. Fast forward... I walked away with the following:
Paradigm:
2 Monitor 7 Floorstanders
1 CC-150 Center Channel
2 Atom bookshelf surrounds
Fisher:
SW2000 Sub - Is this any good?
He also threw in an Onkyo TX-SV535 receiver, although it currently displays "protect" mode. I'm assuming it needs repair? *edit* did a "reset" that I read about online - held video 1 while powering off, now it won't display anything.
All this gear, I scored for the low price of $350! I'd never have known to even look at these if not for this forum. Yay!
So, as for the questions, is the Fisher sub any good? Couldn't find much about it. Is the receiver, which is older and without the newer component or hdmi switching, worth spending the money on to fix? If its a great receiver from an audio standpoint, I can ignore the lack of video features, but if its mediocre on either, I'd just assume pick up a newer generation receiver used. (Sorry if I should have posted in the other forum)
