After saving up for some time I finally purchased the Oppo and am eagerly awaiting for it to arrive.I am hoping the set up is goes smooth on my older rear projection lcd(1080i)sony tv.The question I have is I have purchased the monoprice hdx-401e hdmi switcher to connect it to the TV along with my HD satellite. I have read it has some problems connecting with panny blu rays.I was just wondering if anyone has had a problem with the oppo's with the monoprice switchers.I only have one DVI input on the tv.For the cost I thought it was worth the try.

I have a monoprice 2x1 and the Oppo switch and both work fine with the 83.

The feature that i love about this gear, is the additional disc and file formats, such as audio CD, HDCD, Kodak Picture CD, AVCHD, MKV, and other audio/video/picture files on recorded discs or USB drives and can be played back on. A friend just get it last month.

So far everything has worked great.I have had no problems yet with the switcher from the oppo ,I may have to buy a bigger cable coming from the Sat box as I have seen a few glitches (going to give it some time as it may have been the sat itself). The only problem I had when setting up the oppo is it would not produce any sound on blu ray disc's but I found the problem was with the copy right protection and was quickly solved in the trouble shooting guide.(I am using a coaxial digital cable). I am glad I saved the cash for this great system

Hi!
My very first post!
I've had an Oppo BD-83 for about a month now and herewith a few comments: Image quality in BD is excellent - as good as any I've seen. The included Spears & Munsil calibration disc is second to none. In spite of the easy setup menus, I had questions and in two separate instances, I e-mailed Oppo. In both cases I had a return reply in less than one hour.
SD playback is the best I've experienced - I have a 65" screen and view from 8' and have NO complaints. Load time for most BD discs is in the 10 second range.
Several days ago, I hooked up a wireless bridge to the Oppo, and had a bunch of firmware updates waiting to download!
Oppo also includes an audio test disc with some SACD tracks and frequency sweeps for subwoofer crossover calibration.
I replaced a Sony BDP-S350 with the Oppo. It was a good player, but not at all like the Oppo.
