Hello, I recommend The Sony 9100es and modwright Denon 3910.
These are regarded as the best SACD players world wide. The Denon has the advantage of playing DVD-A's as well though.

How would the Denon 3910 go up against the dedicated Denon DCD-1500AE for SACD ???
Yes you do get the DVD-A option but there must be a reason they make the Denon DCD-1500AE??
Ill have to try to find a shop with both to compare..Thanks

Question for you - will you be using the analog outputs or a digital output for the audio from the player?

If your question is in regards to the amp used ,I have a AVR-2807 but willing to get a separate AMP for the SACD player. So which ever outputs are the best..Thanks

Hi. I was asking to see how important the internal DACS on a player would be to you.

I'm no expert on gear, let alone "high-end" gear like $2500 disc players - so my input here might be completely out of place. I'd suggest looking at a universal player like the two offered by Oppo (the DV-980H, or the BDP-83 that also plays blu-ray discs). I'd think that the digital signal would be hard to differentiate between those and any other decent player, and I've read some comments on this forum that the Oppo's analog outputs are quite good. The DV-980H goes for $170. I own it, and I'm very happy with the SACD audio over HDMI.

I upgraded from a SA-CD capable launch PS3 60gb to an Oppo DV-980H, and I concur that it is a wonderful player. The analog output is indeed very good for a player of this price. I can't say if its better than any other given player, because I have not compared them, but I am very, very pleased with its performance on my system!

Stump, he's not talking about a stock 3910 but one highly modified to extract the most out of the internal DACs for stereo and SACD playback. I have not heard either player but modded 3910's can provide excellent sonic improvements. What other equipment and speakers do you have in your system? Seems out of balance to spend $2,500 on an SACD player and use the 2807 internal DACs for playback. Will a 2807 play SACD over HDMI? An external amp may or may not provide an improvement.

Thanks for everyone's reply's.I had a chance to buy a New Denon DVD 3910 for $999. To get it modded would have been extra $1350.New to Australia is OPPO which I only heard about this week.Given the name I considered it a no name cheap Chinese machine. It was recommended and although the $1075 price Oppo Blu-Ray Player BDP83 I oped for the mod version for just under $2000. Hope to be impressed as its only bought online...The equipment I have at this time is...
Denon AVR-2807 Denon DVD 1920 Micro Seiki MB38 VAF DCX, DC7mk4, DC6mk4 Sony KVHR36M31 Widescreen FD Trinitron

Nice looking speakers. For SACD and DVD-A it's hard to fault the 3910 at it's price. Enjoy your new player!
