Time well spent in Denmark...Mr. President.

My 2 cents....
Mr. President.........I prefer you spend this time to make a decision to support our troops. Give them what they need to win the war in Afghanistan. Your lack of response to the commanders request for more troops on the ground is killing our beloved fighting men/women right now.

Get your priorities straight!!!!! Un........F'n...unbelievable.........

So you oppose the President having spent time trying to bring a few billion dollars in income (and the easy access to the olympics, and the international prestige and attention that goes with the Olympics) to the US by getting the Olympics here.

Got it.

Could you be more specific though? What is it that the US armed forces in Afghanistan need that they don't have that you would like President Obama to give them?

Revenue is not the same as profit. There's quite a lot of educated debate regarding whether or not hosting an Olympics is indeed profitable for a country, let alone the host city.

Well, I frequent another forum dedicated to a certain type of firearm, and one of the members there started a campaign to have the members send in their AR-15 magazines (same that are used in the militaries M-16) because they didn’t have enough. There are also numerous news stories about the troops having inadequate or no body armor, nor properly armored vehicles, just to name a few things.

No it wasn’t a wasted trip, the extra money would have been good not just for Chicago, but much of the surrounding area. Not that I oppose the idea, but I’m glad Rio got it, they’ve never hosted the games before.

The commanding general in Afganistain has requested 25,000 additional troops to help support the effort. The CIC hasn't gotten back with him on that.

I am sure the President will get back to the commanding generals request...

...ya know, after he addresses more pressing issues of the day....like the government takeover of HC and cap/trade debacle. At least now the Olympics can be scratched off the 1st order of his priority list. It's one less thing.....now ahead of our troops welfare/Victory.

Better armor, better intel, make Congress stop micro-managing so the people on the ground can do their jobs, acknowledgment that he knows they need support and supplies- that's just a start.

I probably should have read more posts before I fired up with redundant info about them needing supplies and armor, eh?

I have mixed feelings about the Olympics being held in Chicago. Milwaukee would have gotten a lot of overflow revenue for hotels, restaurants, retail and all kinds of other things but we would also be pretty close to any problems that could come with the international riff-raff, and attacks during the Games have happened before.

Obama was doing this more for his cronies in Chicago then for anything else. A majority of the people there did not want this and new it would be done to line the pockets of the corrupt officials there......Well after failing at this now he can try to talk iran into not making a nuke...Ha Ha..good luck with that.

Honestly, Oprah could have personally taken a video of the prez & first lady making their plea. Hell, for that matter, she could have surprised her studio audience with a free trip.

At least we have a President that doesn't spend all of his time pushing an illegal "war" and relaxing on his ranch anymore. We now have a President that is considering the fact that maybe, just maybe, keeping the war on isn't guaranteed to be the only option.

Regarding the "health care takeover," I'm sick of people saying that. First of all, we are not talking universal health care. All we are looking at is providing a public option so all of those crooks out there finally have a reason to stop raising rates and telling people what kind of care they can or cannot have. If you look at the actual facts about government run programs like they have in Canada, they actually have many advantages. They don't tell you that you cannot have necessary procedures or medicines, they don't charge you an arm and a leg just to get care, etc... Those so called long waits are the same thing we have in the US, too.

I'm just sick and tired of people bashing Obama over the slightest thing. After eight years of putting up with a thug who was never legally elected, I'm glad to have a thinking man in office.

Well after 8 years of liberals bashing Bush now you know how it feels. Bush kept this country safe and didn't go around the world on a apology tour telling people how bad we are. A public option will drive the private insurance companies out of business and then what do you get....that's right government controlled healthcare. If Obama wasn't so ill equiped to be the president then maybe he would have a chance to make that change he talked about. Too bad Hillary didn't get the nod because at least she has more balls then Obama....

Of course this means that this deficit has been going on for at least 8 years.

Do you believe that someone has put a "buy more magazines" bill in front of the president that he has refused to sign? Can you point me to the millitary spending bill that would have authorized this that he has not signed? Can you point me to where the Pentagon has made this request to the administration?

The commanding general in Afganistain has requested 25,000 additional troops to help support the effort. The CIC hasn't gotten back with him on that.
Has that request been officially made? In an 8-year war that was made what, yesterday?

So that request wasn't in front of him when he went? Next.

ya know, after he addresses more pressing issues of the day....like the government takeover of HC and cap/trade debacle. At least now the Olympics can be scratched off the 1st order of his priority list. It's one less thing.....now ahead of our troops welfare/Victory.
Has government taken over healthcare? Please name a single example.

Cap-and-trade has not been implamented. How is it a debacle?

The olympics was the first thing he did after taking the oath of office? You see you've confused me because you've said it was his first priority. Please support.

Better armor, better intel, make Congress stop micro-managing so the people on the ground can do their jobs, acknowledgment that he knows they need support and supplies- that's just a start
Armor would be the same discussion as M-16 magazines.

How would you suggest that Obama make congress do something?

How would you suggest Obama make intelligence better?

Obama was doing this more for his cronies in Chicago then for anything else.
Do you have support?

BTW, when Bush attended the Bejing Olympics, was that his #1 priority?

Well after 8 years of liberals bashing Bush now you know how it feels. Bush kept this country safe and didn't go around the world on a apology tour telling people how bad we are.
Well, except for 9/11, and the DC sniper, and the anthrax thing, and the N.Korean Nuclear program, and the Iranian Nuclear program, and the 6k dead in his wars, and the economic collapse, and the record deficit... but other than that... so/so job.

Of course you say "Bush wasn't America-bashing", but Americans were less liked when he left office than when he came in. But feel free to show me where Obama has bashed America. Make sure you aren't showing him owning up to bad behavior.

A public option will drive the private insurance companies out of business and then what do you get....that's right government controlled healthcare.
60% of Americans want a single-payor system.
70% of doctors want a single payor system.
We have the highest medical costs in the world, and are 16-th from the bottom in preventable deaths.

If private insurance cannot function in a fair market against a public option, it will be because they are providing inferior services. What I want is good, effective, available healthcare. We don't have it. Time for something different.

Too bad Hillary didn't get the nod because at least she has more balls then Obama....
She was a much bigger proponent of universal healthcare than even Obama.

Had she won, you would be here Hillary bashing lamenting Obama not winning.

Bush was legally elected, as per the rules of the electoral college. But it's funny you should say that after all the electoral fraud allegations against Acorn in Big O's favor.
