He doesn't pay the artists? I find this very surprising...or is it just rumors with no evidence. I have bought many titles from MA and I would hate this to be true.
There was some pay, but a lot more that was owed, many years after the fact. I was told this directly in person by someone I had studied with for a bit, but well after I had already studied with him, and told him about meeting the founder in Europe, where he roped in a bunch of Gypsy musicians from a train station, and was working deals with bars and such as the "manager". (The artist and I talked about this when I met him again when he was judging the Stotsenberg International Guitar competition, which is now known as the Christopher Parkening competition.)
I'll let you decide if that is a rumor without evidence. While it's not cool, I'm sure there's a lot of BS with other labels too. Just enjoy the discs you've bought.
