I absolutely LOVED this movie as a kid. I'm not sure if it will still hold up, but I just got my BD today from the postman. I'll watch it tonight and let you know what I think. It got a pretty good review from HiDef Digest. A little surprising given it's age.

Not buying until it goes on sale. Labyrinth came out too.

Got it from Amazon for $18.99. That was good enough for me.

Watched a bit of it last night. Picture quality is better than the DVD, but not a huge leap. The audio is much better though. The DVD I had was only stereo, and sounded very dated.

Best Buy has them for $18.99 also. I can't imagine the audio quality being dramatically improved from the limited edition superbit which had a pretty nicely remastered DTS track.

That is good to hear. Then you wonder what happened with the Gladiator, a 2000 film, with all its shortcomings, on a sapphire edition at that.

I picked this and Labyrinth up last week at Frys for $12.50 each and I watched this one last night. The PQ is a noticeable improvement over the Superbit, though as expected, the sound was not much improved, though that isn't a bad thing because the sound was already pretty well remastered on there over the previous SD DVD releases. I noticed some additional clarity in the TrueHD track, but not a dramatic improvement like they made with Blade Runner. Still a very fun film.

Gladiator looks fine to me. They overdid it a bit, but it doesn't look as bad as some are saying, and it is an improvement over the former SD DVD versions. Just enjoy the film :)
