I was just wondering if there are any other musicians here at AH

I play sax and I am currently studying for a degree in music education.

Whats your story?

I’ve been trying to teach myself how to play bass – I think I should take lessons, but I can play along with a fair number of songs.

I'm currently playing violin in quartet and duo (same cellist). All of the members are accomplished musicians, but most of them are not playing their primary instruments, and so we are still pretty mediocre for now, but we're improving. (One has degrees in piano performance, another in classical guitar, and another in composition). Biggest pieces we're working on are a Haydn quartet, as well as a couple of Contrupuncti from the Art of Fugue. Besides a slew of easier ditties for future gigs.

My cellist and I did a wedding gig just a month ago, where the groom was Scottish, and so we were wearing kilts. We've been dubbed as Duo Commando. :p And the name is still sticking! lol

I have a master's degree in music performance. It has not been my profession in many years.

Drums are my instrument of choice.:) I have never been in a band. I just put CD's in and play...well not much in the last 10 years but I have a "drum room" and they are always set up and there if I need to work out some frustration...I always play worse frustrated though.:)

I played guitar for a while. Badly.

I'm pretty sure Alex plays an instrument, but I don't think it qualifies him as a musician. Popular, but not a musician.

Where did you go for training? I have considered being a sound engineer after I get my degree.

I did not pass go and collect $200, I went straight into the trenches in 85' and never went to school for any audio related training.Hands on is the best way to learn live sound engineering....I was moving roadcases for a Jam/Dead band in 85 and one day our soundguy didn't show up and the guitar player said lemme show you how this works...I never looked back and am still learning today..........
