So, first off - I am quite the audiphile and I like OPEN and musical sound. I have had pretty hefty setups over the years, but right now I am considering getting a small 5.1 package for my living room and run it with a mid priced receiver such as Yammi 765 or Onkyo 607, but what speakers are the absolute best withing a 1500- max 2000$ budget?

I have been looking at Mirage Nanosats, Orb Audio Mod2 5.1, Gallo (Pricy), bookshelf speakers from several other vendors, but I haven`t found any that stand out.

I`d love to get some help. Music is most important, but they will be used for HT/TV as well. Room is 12 x 14 x 8 feet.

Try an audition PSB's Synchrony bookshelves if you can. The entire Synchronoy line has garnered lots of favourabel reviews by all the audio magazines.

I am personally a fan of Mirage. The Nanosat Prestige or their newer sat systems are all very good. I have never had the pleasure, but Cabasse makes some very good small speakers. Not sure about the price though.

For under $1500 shipped you could purchase an Ascend Acoustics CBM-170/CMT-340C/HTM-200 combo and an SVS PB10-NSD.
