Facebook and Twitter

Perhaps I'm old-fashion, but I simply don't understand these networks. I recall spending a few bucks more to the phone company to keep my number unlisted which is pretty much impossible these days. Most people don't want to give their phone numbers to anyone and get outraged if someone watches them in anyway or has any kind of info on them, but they volunteer the same information by putting it on their FB page. I don't get it.

The social services aren't for everybody, but i a recession its been a great way for us to network. We post pictures of our products and links to our online web events and have had a pretty good response. Its expensive to travel all over the country to do trade shows and these outlets have been great for business.

On the personal side, I don't get twitter at all. I don't care what my friends are doing every second of the day. I like facebook so I can make fun of pictures of Doug (StrongbadF1)

I deleted my twitter acct. as I found it to be useless, and I rarely visit my Myspace page, but Facebook I go on all the time. It's a great way to stay in touch with friends and family, and reunite with old friends. If it weren't for social networking sites like these, I would not have found some friends who I haven't seen or talked to in years. But like was already said, they aren't for everyone.

Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter are all stupid. They serve only to make their users feel special about unimportant things, like what color socks they are wearing.

Twitter, no. Facebook, yes.

Facebook, like others mentioned, is a great way to stay in contact with family and friends on an ongoing basis. Of course, one needs family and friends to appreciate it's usefulness. :D

Facebook allows us to share on an ongoing basis, the most current pictures of the grand-kids, not to mention communicating with them. The kids and grand-kids love reading about what we're up to (I hope ) and seeing our latest pictures. ...and that works both ways.

Not to mention finding (and being found by) people I've met and lost contact with over the years.

Twitter? Effin' useless and more of an impediment to a useful life than anythig else, IMNSHO,

I finally joined FB, after getting some friend requests.
After a few months; I realized it was a little lame.
It helped me realize why I lost touch with some in the first place.
Can see where it would be useful for families that are scattered around the country.

I was in college when facebook first came on the scene, and it was kind of a big deal when our school was put on the network. It was cool then because only people in our colleges network could communicate, so people would plan parties, meets at bars, see what classes eachother we in, figure out peoples names based on their photo (that was huge for me, because I'm terrible with remembering names).

Once they opened it up to the public though, I pretty much stopped going on. I still get the e-mails "so and so" has requested you as a friend, so I need to finally go on there and just delete the account.

I just think it got sketchy and they loaded it with dumb features.

Twitter is just a way for people to waste time. I can't believe how much time people waste at work messing around with social networking stuff. I like to party, as you all probably know, but when I'm at work I'm at work... non of this social networking crap.

FB is part of why I am with my current girlfriend. I've known her for years but because we chatted on FB we realized we had a lot of common interests which is a big part of how we got together. I also like the fact that I got back in touch with a bunch of old friends. It's way better than MySpace which I really only use to follow a few bands.

I swear I posted in this thread earlier????

Anyways, it's a great way for Grandma and Grandpa to see pics and videos of their grand-daughter who lives 1700 miles away. Plus Mafia Wars is addicting.;)

...and you can control who see's your information unlike a phone book.

I'm with Matt on this one (except the Mafia Wars thingy...). My wife and I discussed setting up a blog. Facebook was just much simpler and easier. I can also control who has access to any piece of information I put up there.

Absolutely. I assure you that I would post there before ever "twittering". I'm usually not bored enough to post in the boring thread, so what's that say for twitter?

Twitter...now, that would be a lot of work. I'd have to get a cellphone and, well, friends.

But all of the cool kids are doing it!

Facebook is a great tool for sharing pictures of the kids and stuff with family members. All the other stuff is annoying.

I'm totally diggin Mike C's responses that immitate the things you see on Facebook. I'm always making fun of that part of the program with my wife.
